Intelligent charging as an interface between electromobility and the energy transition at home—that is Elli's claim. With the Elli Charger 2, the Volkswagen subsidiary is launching a smart charging wallbox in Europe that integrates the home photovoltaic system.

With the Elli Charger 2, the electric vehicle always charges when electricity is cheap. This allows the company to integrate renewable energies and reduce charging costs. In addition, a photovoltaic system from Otovo can now be purchased for the wallbox. Elli's partnership with the Norwegian PV dealer Otovo will initially be rolled out as a pilot project at selected Volkswagen dealers in Germany, including Hamburg, Ulm and Augsburg, and is to be established throughout Europe in the long term. The new Charging Wallbox is accompanied by an ecosystem: in addition to the new Charger 2, this includes Volkswagen Naturstrom Flex, the Smart Charging app, a PV system and access to a public charging network with more than 770,000 charging points.

Functions of the Elli Charger 2 at a glance:

Intelligent charging: Users save up to 40% of charging costs through the combination of solar surplus charging and price-optimized charging.

PV surplus charging: The Charger 2 makes it possible to use excess energy from photovoltaic systems directly to charge the e-vehicle. The vehicle is charged sustainably and is less dependent on external energy.

Market price-optimized charging: With the help of dynamic electricity tariffs, the wallbox can automatically select the cheapest times for charging. This function uses fluctuations in the electricity market to minimize energy costs for the user.

Versatile charging: The new Elli Charger 2 is available in four versions for 28 markets in Europe and is suitable for any electric vehicle with a type 2 charging connection. Thanks to the new metering function—which will soon also be possible in compliance with calibration law—and the associated cost transparency as well as the new charging management, the new Elli Charger 2 can be used not only in private, but also in semi-public and public areas.

Future-proof and user-friendly: With the option of receiving software updates via the cloud, the Elli Charger 2 always remains at the cutting edge of technology and offers a user-friendly interface for control via app.

Integration of e-vehicles and chargers: Seamless synchronization with VW, Cupra and Škoda e-vehicles, exchange of charging profiles, departure times and battery status data to optimize charging processes.

With a charging capacity of up to 22 kW, the Charger 2 not only charges particularly quickly, but is also particularly future-proof. The charging power can be individually adjusted in configuration mode, for example 11 kW, to meet the requirements of your home connection. (se)
